Using Reflections

Something I don't work on enough is using reflections in unique ways. Particularly in water or puddles. I made it a point to shoot some reflections the other day after some rain. Luckily I was with a friend, because getting a human figure into this shot made a big difference.

I think what makes reflections special is that it takes a moment for you to realize that you are looking at a facsimile of the object, not the real thing. This is a device you can use in photography to break down peoples expectations and sense of reality. This shot of a boy walking through a puddle along the Thames River in London, employs a dreamy quality thanks to the reflection.
